Our office has developed a pocket translator card to help English-speaking visitors to Kenya learn some of the basics of Swahili. We have shipped the first batch of 2000 cards to Kenya for distribution to job insecure Kenyans.  The cards will be sold to tourists for 100 Kenyan shillings, about $1 Canadian. Hopefully the cards will provide a source of income and also encourage tourists to engage more deeply in the local culture with their newly developed language skills.
