OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN

STARTS ASAP WITH FLEXIBILITY

We are looking for an energetic, people-oriented quick learner to join a busy comprehensive eye surgery practice in Orillia, located at the edge of cottage country 90 minutes north of Toronto in Ontario. Patience and friendly nature essential.

Our office is a 2700 square foot fully accessible facility built specifically for the provision of high quality, efficient eye care with two waiting rooms, two technician rooms, four MD exam rooms, a laser treatment room with YAG, SLT, and Argon lasers, four special testing rooms with OCT, Visual Fields, IOLMaster, Optovue and a patient learning centre.

Whether patients see us for cataract surgery, AMD treatment, diabetic eye changes, emergency eye care, pediatric eye care, or glaucoma therapy, our goal is to offer the best possible eye care.

Work days are Monday, Tuesday Wednesday Thursday 8-4ish, Friday 8-12

Job responsibilities will include screening of 30 +/- patients daily including history taking auto-refraction, and Goldmann applanation tonometry , as well as other ocular testing including Low Vision Assessments, A-scans, Visual Fields, Optomap fundus photos, OCT testing, IOLMaster, and Corneal Topography. Successful applicants will also contribute to patient flow through the office, telephone and fax communications, OR and laser clinic bookings, and triaging patient/MD urgent calls. Lots to learn and we will teach the right applicant!

Interviews will be offered to applicants who have one or more of the following qualifications:

  1. JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician/Technologist
  2. Registered Optician
  3. Bachelor’s degree from a Canadian university.

Our Practice

While on emergency call our practice sees patients from the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) #12 which includes Barrie, Bracebridge, Collingwood, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, Midland, Penetanguishene, and Wasaga Beach.We see elective medical and surgical patients from the Orillia area.

Dr Tim Hillson is an Ophthalmologist (Eye Physician & Eye Surgeon) based in Orillia, Ontario. He treats patients with eye disorders that include, cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, and other conditions.

Fri: 8:30am - 12:00pm
Sat-Sun: Closed
